This page is devoted to providing you with a challenge each month to help you grow. I will provide a theme for the month and tips on what you can do to fulfill the challenge.
The month of January is about new beginnings as we start a new calendar year. Why not take this time to create a new experience. This month is dedicated to getting out of one’s comfort zone. A comfort zone is a routine that you have grown accustomed to. It could range from going to work or school the same way, eating the same foods often, doing the same work tasks, keeping to yourself, wearing the same clothes, and having the same hair style for an extended period of time.
Some tips to get out of your comfort zone include trying new foods, go somewhere you have never been, introduce yourself to someone new, try a new activity, get a makeover, take a class on something that interest you. Also, come up with some ideas on your own that would lead you to explore life in a new exciting way. I want to leave you with this quote by Helen Keller “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” So go take part in a new adventure.
This month is the month of Valentine’s Day and we celebrate love. This month’s challenge is dedicated to examining your own self-love. Taking a fearless inventory of how we feel about ourselves leads to becoming consciously aware of changes that are necessary. Working on one’s own self-love leads to an increase capacity to love others. I challenge you to identify how you truly feel about yourself in your heart.
For this exercise, I suggest journaling about these questions to gain more clarity. Who am I? What is your self-talk dialogue about yourself? How do you view your appearance? What do you love about yourself? What are your strengths? How do you view your talents and abilities? How do others view you? What makes you feel proud about yourself? On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest score and 1 being the lowest, how would you rate your self-love? Also, identify any resentment that you are still carrying from negative comments that others have said about you. Let go of the negative comments with love. I want to leave you with this quote to reflect on “Life is too short to waste any amount of time on wondering what other people think about you. In the first place, if they had better things going on in their lives, they wouldn't have the time to sit around and talk about you. What's important to me is not others' opinions of me, but what's important to me is my opinion of myself.”
